Is it wind, strings, or fan? - Nope
Watch the video to see the portrait come to life with movement. Bourdain’s portrait is made of various flaps of material that individually flutter up and down. We are not revealing what makes the canvas move just yet as we are still tinkering with this artwork.
Anthony Bourdain is one of the few people who Andrew truly looks up to. With the 4-year anniversary of Bourdain's death approaching in June, Andrew wanted to create something very special in his memory. “Gone With The Wind” is a dynamic piece that pays tribute to Bourdain’s “on the move” persona while also referencing his all-too-fleeting life itself.
This artwork incorporates brushes that protrude from a gesso and oil paint wood panel at varying depths. Each brush is an oil painting, arranged in a manner that lines up as a beautiful, complete painting when seen straight on. As one moves around the artwork, the brushes and various depths of the artwork comes to life.

A new venture turns into hundreds of brushes suspended from a metal frame by over 500 feet of steel rods - each hanging at different depths. Once you step in front of the work and look at it straight on, a portrait appears. Each paint brush is painted and tediously aligned to create this work.

In Andrew’s attempt to push the boundaries of art and get out of his comfort zone, he has created a new form of art that he calls “cube art”. The concept was to take thousands of pixels and create a three dimensional sculpture by combining them at different heights and depths. The end result is a stunning, hanging sculpture that when viewed up close shows no promise of being any specific image. However, as you step back, the cubes start aligning to create the intended image with stunning clarity.
With over 1200 cubes and 800 yards of stainless steel wire, the arduous task takes months to complete. Each cube is hand painted on the back with a different color that is mixed in our studio. Andrew believes that this new art form has no boundaries as far as size and complexity are concerned, and we look forward to the future of cube art.

Andrew Myers moves away from screws on this one. Painted on over 600 individual wood strips and protruding from the panel at varying depths (the wood strips are connected to steel rods cut at different lengths), this work of art has incredible depth and movement as one walks around it.
