“Moments in Color” is a series, where Andrew got to play around with color combinations and patterned shapes. Andrew immensely enjoys the subtleties that color provides as an emotion and a feeling. He used two background colors, and then a gradient complimentary color on the screws. The squares are made out of screws that make patterns and shapes, so there’s a movement from high to low and from side to side.

One night Andrew was staring at a fire extinguisher box that said “Break glass in case of emergency.” The thought occurred to him that the heart is the human fire extinguisher, a tool we can use to put out emotional fires we create.
In the bronze, wood, and glass piece, the figure is depicted with his sleeve rolled up, expressing the idea that the hammer can be used at any moment to free the heart and put out the fire.

Dallas Design District is a neighborhood of fine art galleries and high-end retail showrooms. In 2015, Andrew Myers Art was commissioned to craft a 20-foot tall sculpture titled "In Case of Emergency." Situated on a median on Hi Line Drive at Decorative Center, the work depicts a man holding a hammer. On the upper left side of the man's torso is a glowing LED heart incased in glass.
The sculpture is made of composite over an internal steel structure and finished with bronze metallic spray. The heart is made of acrylic rods attached to an LED panel and has an internal cooling system. The heart is programmed to imitate a heartbeat as it were alive.
One night Andrew was staring at a fire extinguisher box that said “Break glass in case of emergency.” The thought occurred to him that the heart is the human fire extinguisher, a tool we can use to put out emotional fires we create. So, as in the Dallas artwork, a figure is seen with one sleeve rolled up, expressing the idea that the hammer can be used at any moment to free the heart and put out the burning fire.
This sculptural creation will serve as a lasting symbol for the Dallas Design District neighborhood. for many years to come.

In this dynamic portrait, Andrew depicts filmmaker Benjamin Pitts using approximately 8,000 screws, oil paint, and phonebook pages. The piece was an experiment in expressing movement with static objects.
“Fading Thoughts” is a documentary made by fimmaker Benjamin Pitts, who also happens to be the subject of the piece. Andrew wanted to create a screw piece that expressed movement and action, and knew that as a highly expressive person, Ben would be the perfect subject to depict screws in motion.
The title “Fading Thoughts” denotes how the documentary and screw piece came together through the organic interplay, and sometimes heated exchanges, between both artists.

Most of Andrew’s pieces are figurative and representational; this series of abstract screw pieces provided the artist a chance to depart from stoic portraits and experiment with mathematics and color in a more playful genre of art.
These pieces are designed to trick the eye, using color gradients and strategic screw depths to give the allusion of flat surfaces for pieces that are actually three dimensional, and vice versa. They can be rearranged in various compositions.
Measures 9″ x 9″ (H x W). These are no longer available for commission

Life 101”Life 101 is a deep journey into one's self that in the end offers hope, insight, and perseverance. Everyone has been a student and each of us has taken tests. But the assessment of one’s performance in life carries on long past school. In this series of life-size charcoal and ink portraits, Andrew wanted to depict how it feels to be judged, criticized, and measured by others, with one’s strengths and shortcomings graded along the same cold, impersonal criteria of a school assignment. This series is a joint effort between Andrew and his subject. These pieces have significant visual impact, an emotional experience furthered by the critical— and sometimes comical— comments etched on each piece. Before embarking on each drawing, Andrew interviews the subjects to get an honest, personal assessment of what they believe to be their strengths and shortcomings. The subject is asked the question - what is your life grade? Think about that for a second, it's not easy to answer. It usually takes time for the subject to give an honest, overall life grade. Andrew then has a counseling / interview / interrogation session with the subject to get a personal assessment of what they believe to be their strengths and shortcomings. The comments and summary that follow are from the perspective of a teacher that is grading a test. The test is life. Welcome to life 101.
